Step by step

  1. Download Google Wallet from the Play Store if it is not already on your phone.
  2. Open the Íslandsbanki app and find the card to be added to Google Wallet.
  3. The process of adding cards to Google Wallet is not complete until you have entered the confirmation code received by SMS. If you do not receive a confirmation SMS, start by requesting a resend SMS, but if that does not work, contact us on the online chat.
  4. Google Wallet asks to become the device's primary payment gateway when paying contactless. If the Íslandsbanki app has been selected for contactless payments before, it will be replaced by Google Wallet during this change. Google Wallet has therefore become the communication channel between device and the merchant POS terminal for payment with your card.
  5. In the Íslandsbanka app, you can then view the overview of the card and its use, as well as perform all operations for the card, such as changing the authorization and applying for payment distribution.

How do I con­nect my card to Google Wallet?

You can add your cards to Google Pay using the Íslandsbanki app. Please ensure that you have the most recent version.

There is a button next to each card that helps you add cards to Google Wallet directly from the Íslandsbanki app.

All card functions, card overview and usage are still accessible in the Íslandsbanka app, so it is best to change and view everything about the card through there.

You add your card to Google Wallet via the Íslandsbankapp.

After confirmation of personal and card information as well as payment terms, the Google Wallet payment method is ready

Google Wallet is the communication payment method for your cards between phone and posa.

You can connect your card to Google Wallet as long as the device runs the Wear OS version 2.0 operating system or higher and has NFC functionality.

Note it may be necessary to install Google Wallet app in the watch if it is not there.

How can I pay with Google Pay?

You can pay with Google Pay using your Android device using a security code, fingerprint scanner, or face scanner depending on what your phone supports.

To pay with the fingerprint scanner, you unlock the device and hold the phone up to the POS terminal and place your finger on the phone's fingerprint scanner when prompted by Google Wallet.

To pay with a smart watch, you open the watch with the selected security feature and place the watch in the POS terminal.
