How to apply for a debit card for children
The first step is to open a current account for the child if they don't already have one.
- If the child has an electronic ID, they can independently open a current account through the bank's website. Open a current account.
- If the child doesn't have an electronic ID, they can open a current account by contacting us through the bank's website or via online chat (if the child's guardian has an electronic ID). You can also visit one of our branches to open a current account. See branches and opening hours.
- Anyone 12 years or older can open an account themselves if they have a valid ID.
If the child already has a current account:
- If your child already has a current account, they can request a new debit card by contacting us via online chat, phone (440-4000), or by visiting one of our branches.
- Debit cards for children aged 9-11 can be applied for in person at a branch or online with an electronic ID held by the guardian. You can also submit an electronic application through online chat or the bank's website, and an advisor will send it to the guardian for signature.
- Children aged 12 and above can apply for a debit card with an electronic ID.
How to activate a debit card for children under 18 years old
- A child can activate their debit card through the app with an electronic ID
- A child and/or parent can identifying themselves over the phone with an electronic ID.
- A child and/or parent can identify themselves through an online chat with an electronic ID.
- A child and/or parent can identify by coming to a branch with a valid ID.
